Recently, our team carried out a routine hot water system service on a unit that was around seven years old. While on site, one of our plumbers captured a short video showing the internal build-up inside the tank.

Hot Water Unit Service and Drainage Setup | Dianella

We recently attended a property in Dianella to inspect and service a hot water unit that was experiencing issues.

Work Carried Out

During our inspection, we identified that the hot water unit likely requires a heating element replacement. We also found that the drip tray did not have a drain connection, which made it difficult to safely drain the unit during servicing.

To resolve this, we installed grab fittings to allow a hose to be connected to the cold water relief valve, enabling the unit to be drained safely to an external location.

As part of the service, we:

Shower and Basin Drain Clearing | Eden Hill

Blockages removed using high-pressure jetting

We attended a property in Eden Hill to investigate a blocked shower in the main bathroom. Using high-pressure jetting, we cleared the blockage, which was caused by a buildup of hair, silicone off-cuts, and a pair of earrings lodged in the drain. All items were successfully removed, restoring normal flow to the shower.

During the visit, the customer also mentioned that the bathroom basin was draining slowly. To resolve this, we worked upstream through the floor waste back towards the basin and cleared additional hair from that section of pipework. The jetter was run both upstream to the basin and downstream to the shower to ensure the line was fully cleared in both directions.

To finish off, the basin trap was removed and the PVC pipe treated to break down any remaining residue. With both the shower and basin draining freely again, the customer was happy with the result and everything was left clean and functioning as it should.

We attended a property in Viveash to install a brand-new Westinghouse front loader washing machine, ensuring everything was set up correctly and ready for use.

Our team connected the hot and cold-water supply lines, checked the taps and hoses for compatibility, and securely installed the waste hose to prevent leaks or drainage issues. The machine was levelled properly to reduce vibration and noise during operation, which is especially important for front loader washing machines.

We were called out after a gold necklace slipped off in the shower and disappeared straight down the drain. Understandably, the customer was worried the chain would be lost for good.

After inspecting the shower drain, we carefully opened the floor waste to gain proper access without risking damage to the plumbing. Using a wet vacuum, we were able to gently extract the gold chain from the drain without it being pulled further into the pipework.

Thankfully, the necklace was recovered intact and handed straight back to the customer. A good outcome all round, and a reminder that quick action can often make the difference when valuables end up where they should not.

We attended a property in Morley to repair a burst pipe located beneath brick paving near the hot water system.

To complete the repair, we excavated the area to expose the leak, removed the damaged section and installed new copper pipe with a joiner to create a secure, long-lasting connection. Once repaired, the line was tested to ensure the leak was fully resolved before the ground was reinstated.

While on site, we also identified a reticulation line that was not connected and made the customer aware of its location for future use.
